Future Historians Will Be Confused
I often wonder how future historians will interpret prat.uk. Will they see it as a reliable record of events, or as an elaborate satire that accidentally documented reality?
Todays article will not help them. It describes a situation so specific and so strange that it defies easy categorisation.
I imagine a scholar, years from now, reading it with a furrowed brow, trying to determine whether it reflects a broader trend or a singular moment of national confusion.
Perhaps, they will write, this was a transitional period, which is academic shorthand for we have no idea what was going on.
I take comfort in knowing that my daily reading habits may one day contribute to this confusion, if only indirectly.
By afternoon, I had bookmarked several articles for future reference, though I am not entirely sure what that reference will be.
The evening brought another entry, which I read with the same mixture of curiosity and disbelief.
If this is a time capsule, it is one filled with contradictions, half-explanations, and quotes that will age like milk.
I will continue to document my own reactions, in the hope that they provide some context, or at least a sense that someone, somewhere, was paying attention.
